Awesome activities for your first day of school

It's almost time for the school year to begin. Here are a few "getting to know you" ideas to break the ice during that first week.

Me Poster

(This is a take home activity, caregivers can assist) Posters will be given out at student orientation and on the first day of school. All posters must be returned on the following Thursday and shared on Friday.

Directions

This is an activity to help the class get to know each other. Students will receive an 8 X 10 poster (white paper, or construction paper), and can use any materials (crayons, makers, glitter, stickers, pictures, etc) to express the things they like, and what makes them special on their poster. The poster must include a picture of student (drawn or photo) and student’s name. The students will share their poster with the class during carpet time. All posters will be displayed throughout the classroom.

Getting to Know You (Teacher Introduction)
This short animated intro is a great ice breaker on that first day of class. Students can have an open discussion about similarities and differences they share with their classmates and teacher. For younger students, have them draw a picture of something or place to go.  Click on the link below and browse
